Tacos & Margaritas at Tacotarian Las Vegas & San Diego | Pairing Guide + Happy Hour
There's a version of Tacotarian where you order tacos, eat the tacos, and leave. That version is fine. The tacos are exceptional and you'll be happy.
But there's a better version. The version where the margarita arrives at the same time as the birria, where the lime in the glass echoes the lime in the consommé, where the salt on the rim makes the al pastor taste even more like al pastor. The version where you're not just eating — you're actually experiencing the meal.
That's what a great drink does at Tacotarian. And we want more people to know about it.
The Rainbow Margarita Flight — Start Here
If you've never done a margarita flight, Tacotarian is the place to start. Choose four from our five house flavors and work through them alongside your food. It's the best way to find your favorite, try something unexpected, and turn a regular Tuesday into something worth remembering.
The five flavors:
Tamarindo Tangy, slightly sweet, and deeply complex. Tamarind is one of the great underrated flavors in Mexican food culture — and in margarita form, it's a revelation. This is the one that surprises people most.
Strawberry Bright, fresh, and unapologetically fun. The strawberry margarita at Tacotarian is not the syrupy frozen version you're thinking of. It's clean, it's vibrant, and it pairs beautifully with anything spicy on the menu.
Mango Tropical, smooth, and the most approachable of the five. If you're bringing someone to Tacotarian for the first time and they're hesitant about margaritas, start them here. They won't be hesitant for long.
Traditional Classic lime, properly made, no shortcuts. This is the one you come back to after trying the others — the baseline that reminds you why the margarita became the definitive Mexican restaurant drink in the first place.
Jamaica Made with hibiscus — tart, floral, and a stunning deep red in the glass. The most visually striking of the five and the one that gets the most questions from neighboring tables. Order it and enjoy the attention.
Choose any four. Flights available at all six locations — pricing varies by location.
The Pairing Guide: What to Drink with What
Plant-based Mexican food and margaritas were made for each other — and the right pairing makes both better. Here's how we'd do it.
Jackfruit Birria Tacos → Tamarindo Margarita
The birria consommé is smoky, rich, and deeply savory. The tamarindo margarita matches that complexity with its own tangy depth. They're both bold, neither overwhelms the other, and together they create a flavor experience that's genuinely greater than the sum of its parts. This is the pairing we're most proud of.
Seitan Al Pastor → Strawberry or Mango Margarita
Al pastor is already playing with sweet and savory — the achiote and pineapple marinade has a natural fruitiness that calls for a fruit-forward margarita alongside it. Strawberry if you want contrast, mango if you want harmony. Either way, the pairing works.
Jackfruit Barbacoa → Traditional Margarita
Barbacoa is about depth and richness — slow-braised, earthy, satisfying. The classic lime margarita cuts right through it, cleanses the palate, and gets you ready for the next bite. Sometimes the right answer is the simple one.
Takis Elote → Jamaica Margarita
Street corn with chili-lime mayo and crushed Takis is bold, spicy, and a lot of fun. The jamaica margarita — tart, floral, cold — is exactly what you want alongside it. The hibiscus tames the heat just enough while the tartness mirrors the lime in the elote. Order these two together and you'll wonder why you didn't always.
Nachos → Cold Beer
Sometimes a margarita isn't the call. Our nachos , your choice of protein, guac, crema, jalapeños, black beans, and pico — are a full-on experience that pairs best with a cold beer alongside. The carbonation, the mild bitterness, the cold temperature against the warm cheese. This is the combo.
Queso Fundido → Any Margarita
Honestly, queso fundido pairs with every margarita on the list. The richness of the Good Planet cheese fondue with poblano peppers and corn needs an acid cut — and every one of our margaritas provides it. This is the starter that sets up the whole meal. Get a margarita in hand before it arrives.
Happy Hour: $6.50 Margaritas, Weekdays 3–6pm
Here's the detail that changes your weekday plans.
Every Tacotarian location — all five in Las Vegas, plus San Diego — offers $6.50 margaritas during happy hour, Monday through Friday from 3pm to 6pm.
That's a house margarita at a price that makes the post-work stop not just reasonable but obvious. Come in after the office, grab a table, order the flight if you haven't tried it, and let the week decompress over tacos and cold drinks.
Happy hour is the best-kept secret in Las Vegas and San Diego plant-based dining. Now you know.
The Beer Option
Not a margarita person? We've got cold Modelo and Pacifico at every location. Our nachos, asada fries, and birria all hold up beautifully alongside a cold beer — and on a hot Las Vegas afternoon or a San Diego evening, sometimes that's exactly the right call. No judgment. Great beer, great tacos, no further explanation needed.
