Vegan Mexican Food in Las Vegas

If you’re looking for quality vegan Mexican food in Las Vegas you might have a lot of questions. A lot of other places in town only offer a few tacos or have limited ingredients. Tacotarian boasts the largest selection of vegan tacos in the universe (YUP, the whole Universo), so therefore we have a lot of ingredients. Whether or not you’re in to faux meats or whole food plant based options, we have them all. So here we go with our most frequently asked questions at the restaurant.

1. What it’s in the ‘no carne asada’ Taco?

Our no carne asada taco, al pastor, and chicharron verde tacos are all made with seitan.

2. What is Seitan?

Seitan is a high protein vegetarian/vegan food that is made from wheat gluten. Our chefs prepare it in a very specific way so that it resembles the flavor and texture of meat.

3. What type of cheese do you use?

We have a few dishes that use “cheese”. For the Frito Pie, nachos, bean and cheese taco, asada fries, and  Cali burrito we use our house made nacho cheese which is a cashew based slather-able cheese. Not to brag but people have mentioned they could bathe in it. For our quesadillas and on top of salads and certain tacos we use daiya cutting board shreds which are the update version and taste great. The shreds melt perfectly and people have been raving about our quesadillas.

4. What’s in the ice cream?

We source our ice cream locally from nourish creamery. Currently we have two flavors, vanilla and champurrado. Champurrado is a popular flavor in Mexico that resembles spicy hot chocolate. Nourish uses a blend of almond and coconuts in their ice creams and only use all natural ingredients.

5. What is mole?

Mole is a traditional sauce originally used in Mexican cuisine, as well as for dishes based on these sauces. … Generally, a mole sauce contains a fruit, chili pepper, nut and such spices as black pepper, cinnamon, cumin, and chocolate. Our mole has a sweeter flavor which is why it pairs so nicely with the plantains in our plantain con mole taco.

All of our tortillas are sourced locally. Our corn tortillas come from Cardenas Market here in Las Vegas. Our burrito tortillas are specially made at Tortillas de Harina Sonora. They custom make vegan ones for us with no lard.

Concha means shell in Spanish. This particular Mexican sweet bread is called a concha because of it’s shell like look. The frosting on top resembles a sea shell. We are the only restaurant in Vegas making vegan concha. Come and get them!
